If you’re new to buying digital products, you may see three different abbreviations which might affect your purchasing decision – PLR, MRR, and RR.
Worry no more, you have come to the right place to find a detailed description of each of these terms.
The full abbreviation of these three words is outlined below:
- PLR – Private Label Rights
- RR – Resale Rights
- MRR – Master Resale Rights
Let’s look a little closer to understand these terms.
Private Label Rights (PLR)
The PLR license is common but much misunderstood. With PLR, you can alter the content as much as you like. Adding your name as the author of the digital product may even be allowed.
Always read the license to any PLR product as some restrictions may limit the use.
Master Resale Rights (MRR)
With Master Resale Rights, you are prohibited from changing or claiming authorship over the product. It must be sold as is. But the good thing about MRR is that it allows your customer to sell the product too because you are selling them Resell Rights. Your customer can sell Personal Use Rights for the product to their customer.
Resell Rights (RR)
Resell Rights are a bit different. Customers usually have the right to resell the products to their customers, but without making any changes to the product at all. And they can sell ONLY Personal Use Rights. It presents more of a fixed digital product. The customer is also not allowed to pass on resell rights to the product.
Personal Use Rights
This allows a customer to use a product for their own benefits. The original product may not be sold to other customers.
Giveaway Rights
A product including Giveaway Rights means that the holder may give the product away without charging for it. Such products cannot be re-sold or changed in any way. They will often include eBooks.
Even though these are the standard definitions of the rights, be sure to read the license completely because each license may have some unique twists.
